Bridal Procession

One of my favorite things about our apartment is our balcony. It gives us a great view of life in our neighborhood. This is a wedding procession that began at 7 a.m. In the village in Cambodia, the groom leads a procession to the bride's house on their wedding day. Here in the city, they just start down the street towards the bride's house or wherever the morning ceremony held. It is extremely common here to see entire streets closed off for a wedding or a funeral. The second picture is the catering tent. I wish these pictures had audio so you could hear the monk's chanting and the loud music.

Chilly V-Day

There are only a few, and I mean a FEW, days a year here when it is cool enough to wear socks. Today was a chilly Valentines' Day morning...maybe 80 degrees. :) I had to take a pic of their cute socks Grandma and Grandpa gave them.
Happy Valentine's Day!

New Dress

I realized I'm going to have to let Julia wear all her cute dresses or she's going to outgrow them! Here's a cute one she wore this week.

Whaddaya eat over there?

People often ask us what we eat here. We just bought an electric oven so we made brownies the other night. (thanks for the mix, mom!) our favorite local breakfast is grilled pork with rice and and iced coffee. ocean picked it up and brought it home for breakfast the other day. The iced coffee comes in a bag with a straw, secured at top by a rubber band---great for on the go drinks here. This is the way all the drinks here are served if you buy them at the market or on the street. Local favorites include iced coffee, iced ovaltine, sugar cane juice, and sno-cone syrup with ice and lime.

Sweet brother

Daddy's little girl

This is her favorite place to take a nap. Who said it's impossible to spoil a newborn?
Ocean is testing that theory. :)

Quilt

My mom and her friends made this quilt for Julia.
Isn't it pretty? She is about 6 weeks old now.
So cuddly and cute!
She has a lot of hair, mostly in the back...
sticking straight up all the time! :)

Ocean thinks she looks like him, I think she
looks like me. What do you think?
